Black Coffee and Distruction Boyz Dominate Nominations for “Dance Music Awards South Africa”

We’re into the second round of the second Dance Music Awards South Africa. Over the past three weeks, fans of South African dance music have been voting over the Internet for the best DJ, best live act, best gqom record and more, and the top five nominees in these categories were just announced.

Black Coffee, whose heavily international touring schedules means even the more cursory fans may recognize his name, got three nominations this year with Best Male DJ, Best International DJ and Best International Producer. Londie London and her hit “He Goes” is all set to clean up too, as best video and best house record, and the singer is also nominated for “Best Female Vocalist of the Year.”

Durban locals Distruction Boyz, who were featured on "The Gqom Generation of Durban, South Africa" program, landed two nominations for Best Gqom Records – “Madness feat. Tipcee,” the 2017 hit “Omunye”—and were featured on hit track "Dladla Mshunqisiin" the same category.
