Cheick Hamala Diabate: Prudence EP and Record Release Show
As everyone who's tuned into our NPR Music mix- or really, paid any attention to Afropop EVER has noticed, we are pretty intense fans of Malian music over here. And while we love the traditional stuff, we've always felt that one of the most amazing aspects of the nation's musical culture is the willingness of its artists to experiment, to mix styles, technologies, and languages without worrying too much it.  The results are frequently magical, strengthening the nation's music through the invigorating impact of new approaches and ideas. The latest addition to that proud tradition is Cheick Hamala Diabate, whose latest release "Prudence" is chock full of some fairly serious remixes of his already boundary pushing jams (one of which we premiered earlier). We really like it. So much, that we are sponsoring its release party THIS friday, April 26th, at DC's Tropicalia. Want a taste of what's gonna get served up? Check out this OFFICIAL PREMIER of the Daytoner remix. Tune in, turn on, and GROOVE out.
