Come See Abdoulaye Diabate and Banning Eyre in Rhinebeck, NY
From Mali to Ivory Coast to North America, Abdoulaye Diabaté's career is one of collaborations and Afropop is honored to take a place in that lineage. The singer and guitarist's next collaboration is with Afropop's own Banning Eyre, as they head to the beautiful Hudson Valley. Join us for an evening of soulful, spellbinding music from the pair of musical travelers at the Bread Alone Bakery Café in Rhinebeck, NY on Sat., Nov. 15. Dan Leader of Bread Alone is generously co-hosting, so tickets include refreshments and fare from the bakery. The event goes to benefit Afropop Worldwide, helping to further the archive collected over its 25-year mission to track down, document, and share the music and culture of Africa and the African diaspora. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased here. Gifts are both welcomed and encouraged. For an idea of what to expect musically, feel free to check out this video of Banning and Abdoulaye playing at the New York Guitar Festival in 2007. Just picture just how good it would sound—and look—from 10 feet away.
