Get At It: Ondatropica Remix Contest

Afropop fans no doubt know Ondatropica, as the project is one of the coolest things around; funded by the British Council, Ondatropica is the multi-generational exploration of Colombian music helmed by British producer Quantic and Colombian musician Mario Galeano. Inspired by both the countries 70's era golden age and current renaissance, they assembled many of Colombia’s best musicians, young and old, in the prestigious Disco Fuentes studios and dug deep to illuminate all things timeless, vital, and exciting in Colombian music. We instantaneously fell in love with their debut album and posted a glowing review of it. The touring band that has emerged from the project, Los Irreales de Ondatrópica, are about to hit the road for a European tour this summer (we're jealous, by the way) and are holding a remix competition to celebrate the occasion.

We feel strongly that the winner should be an Afropop listener and reader- after all, we drop so much hot music on the daily that your brains have been practically rewired to excel at a challenge like this. So download the stems and get to work. Do it for the autographed copy of the album. Do it for the glory. But most importantly, do it for Georges Collinet! [soundcloud url="http://api.soundcloud.com/playlists/5023044" params="" width=" 100%" height="450" iframe="true" /] The stems to their track, “Tiene Sabor, Tiene Sazón” are available for download on Soundway Records’ Soundcloud page. The band will choose the winning remix, which will be released by Soundway Records this summer. The winner will also receive a signed copy of the album and an upgrade to a Pro Unlimited Soundcloud account, both of which are seriously cool prizes. All remixes must be submitted via the Ondatrópica - 'Tiene Sabor, Tiene Sazón’ remix group on Soundcloud by June 17th.

Ondatropica hit the road starting May 17th in Athens, Greece. You can find the full itinerary of their tour and much more on their website.
