Links to Help Your Favorite New York Venues Through COVID-19 Quarantine

We're in into the third full week of coronavirus lockdown here in New York City. Under the best of circumstances, you're working from home and “going out” isn't an option anymore; it's annoying but livable. But those who depend on people “going out” aren't so lucky. We know artists have had to cancel shows and reschedule entire tours, and are struggling to make up that lost revenue. But also the venues where those shows were scheduled are in trouble too. From the bartenders to the coat-checkers to the janitors to the promoters, an entire ecosystem is disrupted and people are hurting.

There are ways to help, even as you remain safely out of the public realm. We've got a list going of ways to support these venues and their staffs. Many of them are GoFundMe campaigns—that's what we have in America instead of a social safety net—but some places are offering gift cards or exclusive digital content.

If we've missed your venue, feel free to hit us up at info@afropop.org, and let us know how people can help.

When we can safely emerge, we know just where to head.
