Super Yamba Band Premieres "N'Diarabi"
Our latest premiere comes courtesy of Brooklyn’s Super Yamba Band and their new single, “N’Diarabi,” which is out later this week. An Afrobeat ensemble with a slew of well-received New York shows behind them, Super Yamba draws on a diverse set of vintage West African traditions, from Fela’s classic ‘70s productions, to the psychedelic mbalax and roots-oriented sounds of Senegal’s Étoile de Dakar and Mali’s Super Djata Band. https://soundcloud.com/superyambaband/ndiarabi-feat-ismael-kouyate Opening with an unmistakable sabar groove, the track rapidly evolves into a burning Afro-stomper, with funked-out falsetto guitar licks and delirious organ riffs sitting firmly alongside Ismael Kouyate’s evocative guest vocals. Periodic horn bursts and an incessant bass groove complete the mix, making for a thoroughly fresh—and danceable—record that is sure to sound even better live. The band plays Brooklyn Bowl on June 21, before heading off on a summer tour down the East Coast, including dates in Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina: 6/21 – Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY 6/23 – Gallery 5, Richmond, VA 6/24 – All Go West Pre-Party, Asheville, NC 6/25 – OuterSpace Project 2016, Atlanta, GA 6/29 – The Pinhook, Durham, NC 6/30 – Levitt Amp Music Series, Greensboro, NC 7/1 – Pisgah Brewery, Black Mountain, NC
