Win Tickets to See Baloji Live on April 17!

After his spectacular end-of-the-night performance at this year's globalFEST, which you can hear on our new program "Afropop Live! NYC, Music Metropolis," Baloji is coming back to New York. This time, he'll be playing a concert called "Futuristic Africa" at 7:30 on April 17 at Pace University’s Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts. Want to go? Well-- Afropop has a pair of free tickets that you could win by following our Instagram account and liking one of our photos of Baloji!

A Congolese-Belgian rapper and singer, Baloji grew up with a diverse mix of influences-- Latin music, dub, hip-hop and soul, among them. Those early influences make up half of his musical style. The rest is Congolese rumba and other African genres that he only began to appreciate later on in life. His band, L’Orchestre de la Katuba, features veteran Congolese guitarist Dizzy Mandjeku, who played with such important figures as Tabu Ley Rochereau and Franco. This mixture of brilliant musicians with a healthy sampling from sources all over the world produces an experience worthy of the concert's billing. Don’t miss your chance to see Baloji live!
