Known for her bringing exquisite tone color and expressivity to an unusual breadth of repertoire, Nnenna Ogwo has performed in Europe, the Middle East, South America and the United States. Her artistic acumen and acute scholarship result in a profound technical command of her instrument and a thoroughly engaging stage presence. Most recently she has performed at the Yamaha Piano Salon, Steinway Hall and the Tenri Cultural Institute in Manhattan as well as the Unplugged in Red Hook series in Brooklyn. An American pianist of Caribbean and African descent, Ms. Ogwo began playing the piano at age six, studying at the Peabody Conservatory Preparatory and graduating with honors in piano and composition. She received her Bachelor of Music at Oberlin Conservatory and under the auspices of a Fulbright Fellowship undertook graduate study at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary where she studied with Ferenc Rados and was granted a Graduate Certificate. Ms. Ogwo completed her Master of Music and Doctor of the Musical Arts degrees with Gilbert Kalish at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her former teachers and coaches include the late Gyorgy Sebok, Leon Fleisher, Bob McDonald and the late Julius Levine.
Sterling Strings is a boutique, New York City based, diverse group of highly trained professional musicians. Sterling Strings members Eric Cooper, Edward Hardy, Frederique Gnaman and Eugene Dyson have each been trained at top music conservatories, and have been playing together for many years and have performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, The Tonight Show, numerous on and off Broadway shows, and other concert venues around the world.
