King Sunny Ade (KSA) first toured the U.S. in 1982-83 and blew away music fans with his 18-piece band featuring interlaced guitars, traditional Nigerian percussion, and graceful choreography. KSA returns this summer for a rare tour. (Do whatever it takes to see him!) In this program, KSA breaks down his sound for us, tells us the deep meaning of some of his Yoruba proverb centered songs, and even teaches us how to dance juju style! Plus we hear the voices of Lagos--fellow musicians, poets, journalists--tell about the special place Nigerians hold in their hearts for KSA. |
