SOBs Gets Raggamuffin Styled
_DJ Rekha ..London, New Delhi, India. She credits this time in India as critical for exposure to Punjabi, the primary language of bhangra...her family moved to Queens, New York. DJ Rekha spent most of her adolescence in Westbury, Long Island and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Queens College with a degree in Urban Studies while simultaneously experimenting and honing her craft on the turntables. _has been playing at SOBs the Basement Bhangra since 1997! largely credited for bringing popular bhangra music to new york city _”Critically acclaimed DJ Rekha crafted a sound all her own with music that merges the traditional Bhangra music of South Asia with modern-day hip-hop beats. In the UK, Punjabi people are the majority South Asian migrant population, followed by Marwaris and Bengali peoples… Today, bhangra music exists in different forms and styles all over the globe.
