Miami's Afro Roots Fest 2021 presented an extravaganza of live and virtual performances on May 1 at the North Miami Beach Bandshell. Virtual sets by Vieux Farka Toure in Mali and Fulu Miziki in Uganda (originally from Democratic Republic of Congo) interspersed live performances by Afro-Nicaruaguan singer/songwriter Philip Montalban and Sacred Steel pedal steel guitar master Roosevelt Collier with his band, including special guests Richard Bona on bass and Weedie Braimah on djembe and congas.
