Afropop 25! Intimate backstage performance with Samba Mapangala
Those who made to Afropop's 25th anniversary concert gala last month were lucky enough to see the Congolese legend Samba Mapangala tear down the stage with his breathtaking vocals, accompanied by Senior Editor Banning Eyre on guitar and up and coming percussionist (and band leader) Isaac Katalay on the traditional bottle.
However, thanks to the wonderful team assembled by BRIC Brooklyn Independent Media, we were lucky enough to film the trio rehearsing their set backstage before the concert. The resulting video is warmly intimate, old friends and new acquaintances coming together in the service of some truly beautiful music.
