Afropop Exclusive Mix: Eko fo' Show
Eko fo' Show is a collaboration between Nenim Iwebuke and Alejandro Van Zandt-Escobar, two Brooklyn-based DJs with roots in Nigeria, England, Colombia and France, respectively. The Eko fo' Show Afropop Exclusive mix is a seamless journey through some classic music from '60s and '70s West Africa, leaning heavily on Afro-funk from Ghana and Nigeria. From heavy cuts by internationally established artists including King Sunny Ade and Orlando Julius, Ghanaian innovators Ebo Taylor, and Oscar Sulley and the Uhuru Dance Band, to deeper cuts from Nigerian artists Mixed Grill, Tony Grey and Dele Abiodun, this mix jumps with hot percussion, twisty synths and comfortable, loose horn sections. You can dance to Eko fo' Show live in Brooklyn on Oct. 28, 10 p.m. until late, at Starvue. RSVP to starvue234@gmail.com for address (secret location).
