Anbessa Orchestra Returns with “Gobez (Brave)”

Call it "Ethio-jazz without borders" when the downbeat drops from Brooklyn’s Anbessa Orchestra. It’s their first release since last year’s slinky “Werik’i (Gold).”

Despite being recorded
remotely under pandemic protocol last summer, “Gobez” still has
the organic-feeling interplay among players, lines that intertwine,
escalate and modulate.
In an email, band guitarist and arranger Nadav Peled said the group is planning on recording a new EP in August, and "Gobez" may or may not make the cut, but as a cut it's making my day.
