Celebrating 50 years as a company in 2021, Ballet Hispánico is streaming a series of performances from the '80s and '90s on Wednesdays in January and February.
Founded in 1970 on New York’s Upper West Side, the Latino dance organization has three main programs: the school of dance, community arts partnerships and its company. A series of performances kicks off on Jan. 13 and will include music from stars known well outside the world of dance, including Gloria Estefan and Ruben Blades.
On Jan. 13, they’re
broadcasting 1984’s Arabesque,
a set of flamenco-inspired dances set to the music of Spanish
composer Enrique Grenados; Jan. 27, ¡Si Señor! ¡Es Mi
Son! from 1984, and 1990’s
Café America on Feb.

Facebook page.

As this pandemic occurs during our 50th anniversary, it provides us with an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come, get back to our roots by reaching out to community near and far, and look forward to what is ahead."
