Cargaa (I + II)
Over the last couple of years, it's become clear that the electronic creativity that's been literally pouring out of Lisbon is anything but a fluke. Happily, Warp Records, the veteran electronic label that has released everything from LFO and Aphex Twin to South African speed-demon Nozinja, seems to agree. The label has released two EPs collecting tracks from many of the scenes best producers, including everyone from relatively well known names like DJ Marfox or Dj Nigga Fox to lesser-known talents like Dj Firmeza.
If you've already heard anything from those first two names, you'll have a fairly good idea of what to expect here- and you'll well know why you should be so excited. Built around a shuddering beat that serves as the endlessly malleable building block for track after track of rhythmic contortion, the music on these EPs is electronic polyrhythm at its very finest. With a total disregard for the
