Cuban band ¡Cubanismo! and Congolese vocalist Ricardo Lemvo performed at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell on July 24 to an enthusiastic crowd. Lemvo was backed by a kind of supergroup formed of key members of his band Makina Loca and reunited members of Afrisa International, the backing band for the late, great Congolese singer, Tabu Ley Rochereau. Original members of that group, including pioneering
soukous guitarist Huit Kilos Nseka, Wawali Bonane and Dodo Munoko, plus Soukous Stars' bassist
Ngouma Lokito, were onstage.
Afropop's Banning Eyre and Sebastian Bouknight were in attendance. Check out their photos below.
