Cuban Daymé Arocena Releases Tribute to Puerto Rico Para Mover Los Pies

Vámonos pa’ la tierra linda de Borikén
Vámonos pa’ la tierra linda de Borikén
Dónde nació la plena, tráiganse pal’ bembé
Barriles para la bomba y para mover los pies

Let's go to the beautiful land of Borikén

Where the plena was born, bring yourselves to the bembé
Barrels for the pump and to move the feet

Afro-Cuban soul star Dayme Arocena, recently moved to Puerto Rico and she is super inspired in her new life in San Juan and feels deeply connected with the culture there. She has spent six months writing and recording with Eduardo Cabra (Calle 13) and her sound has completely transformed.

"Para Mover Los Pies" is the first single to preview Dayme's first album in four years. It is an ode to Dayme's new home Puerto Rico.

The new single "Para Mover Los Pies" is a song which fuses local Boricua rhythms with Cuban traditions. She explains, "This is a song of healing and gratitude, because through it I healed the deepest sores of emigration and balanced my feelings to receive in my heart a new island to call home. One love does not replace the other, but Cuba is a love that hurts and Puerto Rico is a love that heals."

Dayme is signed to Brownswood Recordings, the legendary British label founded by tastemaker DJ Gilles Peterson.
