Afro-Brazilian bandleader Dendê Macêdo has a new video out today (Oct. 14, 2022). A percussionist, singer, composer, and teacher, Dendé is a force of nature and a standard bearer for Brazilian roots music.

His 2022 album Agô is a standout, entrancing start to finish.

“Homem da Justiça” (translating as Man of Justice) invokes the orixa Xango, god of justice, and the song describes the amala de Xango, the okra-based offering that is given to him, the axe that he wields and colors that he wears, red and white.
