Bonnie was thrilled to be a part of a remarkable musical safari to Mali, West Africa, in January of 2000. Led by her friends at @afropopworldwide, she and a group of avid fans got to experience some of their favorite artists playing live in both towns and local clubs from Bamako to Timbuktu. These included the legendary @oumou.sang, Djelimady Tounkara, Lobi Traore, @alifarkatoureofficial and Habib Koite. Habib came along for some of the trip and the next year, on tour in the States, brought his band Bamada into the studio in LA to collaborate with Bonnie on their song together, "Back Around," for her Silver Lining album, released In 2001. She’s been playing the song for the first time live on this latest Just Like That... tour.
