The Indoor Summer continues, perhaps even peaks, this weekend when BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn Festival takes to the internet airwaves. The festival’s curation reflects the borough’s beautiful diversity, featuring artists from the Caribbean, Africa and South America, and thus has piqued our interest.
The event is split over two days, the show on Sat., July 25, the Trini soca outfit Kes headlines an evening that features Madison McFerrin (whose father, Bobby, you may also be familiar with), Mexican singer/songwriter Lila Downs, and a DJ set from Questlove himself.
Sunday somehow turns up the heat, with the Puerto Rican outfit Buscabella and Nigerian star on the rise Yemi Alade. And it wouldn’t be the summer 2020 without livestream queen Angelique Kidjo, who has been a proud Brooklynite for some time.
Head over to BRIC’s website to RSVP for free for the show, and then watch it via BRIC’s Facebook, YouTube and Brooklyn cable channels starting at 8 p.m. both evenings.
