New Afrobeats mix from DJ Juls
If you've been reading us lately, you've likely heard about Afrobeats, a style, movement, and/or marketing plan that’s been taking london dance floors by storm. Combining elements of afrobeat, hip-hop, highlife and reggae (to name just a few of its many influences), the increasingly well defined style has begun to hit the charts in the UK and catch the attention of ears around the world. The joyful sounds and sentiment of Afrobeats have been a call to rally for young African immigrants and children of immigrants to the UK to take pride in their heritage.  DJ Juls’ latest mix embodies all of this with uplifting drum beats and synths overlayed with raps in English, Twi and Yoruba.  Be sure to check out this make-you-dance mix! For even more on the music, and what it means to droves of young African immigrants to Great Britain, and listeners around the world Thump has the scoop.
