Musicians around the world are inspired by the heavy sounds of '60s and '70s Afro-funk from West Africa, groups such as Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou, and Roger Damawazun from Benin. But there are few, if any, groups who take inspiration from the music of that era with more fidelity, power and creativity than Vaudou Game. The "vaudou funk" group is based in Lyon, France, but this mighty sextet is led by Peter Solo, a guitarist, singer, songwriter and vaudou evangelist from Togo. They're back with a new single,  "Chérie Nye." This sunny Afro-funk tune is the second single, after "La Vie C'est Bon" from their forthcoming album Kidayu, out on Thurs., Sept. 8. The new tunes are right in line, and just as hot as the music on their excellent debut album, Apiafo, released on Hot Casa Records in 2014. Here's the new music video for "La Vie C'est Bon."
