Sarkodie and Wizkid Jointly Win BET's "Best International Act-Africa" Award
Last night the BET Awards went down in Los Angeles. In a post last month we lauded the BET awards for creating a "Best International Act-Africa" award. We also recognized how this category is somewhat problematic and that the candidates seemed to be picked rather randomnly. Nevertheless, it was good to see such a major organization as BET recognize all the great music coming out of the African continent. The winner of the "Best International Act - Africa" last night was a tie, going to Sarkodie of Ghana and Wizkid of Nigeria. Unfortunately, neither of the acts recieved their awards on stage or on-air. And keeping with tradition none of the International Africa acts performed on stage. This has caused a bit of a uproar in the blogsphere as this is not the first time BET has chosen not to air the "Best International Act- Africa" award winner acceptance speech. Hopefully, the future will see the international acts getting some TV time. Until then, we'll be happy with the small victory that a few awesome African artists were at least recongized on such a major event. Congrats to Sarkodie and Wizkid! http://youtu.be/QTJ3bwDIyWc
