Scholar: Alex Perullo
Alex Perullo is an assistant professor of ethnomusicology and African studies at Bryant University. His research interests include popular music, youth and urban society, and intellectual property rights in eastern and southern Africa. He is completing a manuscript on music in Tanzania tentatively titled, Sounds of the City: Popular Music, Creative Practices, and Tanzania’s Music Economy, which will be published in early 2011. He has published articles in Africa Today, Ethnomusicology, Popular Music and Society, and several edited volumes. He is also co-editor of the EVIA Digital Archive.
