Scholar: Ned Sublette
Ned Sublette is a 2005-2006 Guggenheim Fellow and the author of Cuba and Its Music: From the First Drums to the Mambo (Chicago Review Press). In 2004-2005 he was a Tulane Rockefeller Humanities Fellow at Tulane University in New Orleans, and prior to that was a 2003-2004 Fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. He is a co-creator of Afropop Worldwide’s Hip Deep series, heard on radio stations nationally via Public Radio International, and co-founder of Qbadisc, the record label that pioneered the marketing of contemporary Cuban music in the United States in the early ‘90s.
