Streaming Quarantunes: Pedrito Martinez at the 92nd Street Y

This'll be special: Cuban percussionist, vocalist and bandleader Pedrito Martinez's November concert at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan will be live streamed Wednesday at 6 p.m.

I actually just found my ticket stub for this concert earlier today and the whole experience came flooding back. I remember we went out for dinner beforehand—Cuban food and margaritas—and had seats right in front of Pedrito's percussionist Jhair Sala's wife and mother-in-law.

Doesn't this just break your heart?

Anyway, I threw the ticket stub away right before I rode my bike over to my friend's house, so he could toss me a bag of masks from a social distance. So, yeah, times changed.

Even if this conjures up a specific memory of you doing something that's currently impossible but at the time was so normal and everyday that you took it for granted and that hurts, this group was absolutely on fire that night in November; honestly, one of the most charming outfits in the game. So pour yourself some rum, curl up on the couch and let the clave unlock you. I can't wait to see it again.
