If you're reading Afropop, it's probably a fair bet that you love West African music. We certainly do- it just hits all of our sweetspots.  Stunning musicianship? Traditional styles going hand in hand with adventurous collaboration? Conscious raising cultural commentary? What's not to love? SO- we are incredibly excited to announce the second annual West African Griot Summit, which will be taking place this week in NYC. While the conference component starts today and stretches until the 28th, the CONCERT is being held on the 27th, at 7pm in The Graduate Center Elebash Hall (365 Fifth Avenue). Featured will be an all-star lineup including musical luminaries like Abdoulaye Diabate, Abdourahmane Mangara, Yacouba Diabate, Mamady Kouyate, Mamady Kourouma, and Famoro Dioubate. Sound appealing?
