"This is Kuduro" showcases a dancefloor diaspora
Kuduro, the roiling angular dance music born in Luanda, Angola, has always been an almost defiantly international style. Invented by a post-war generation that hijacked the sounds and style of hip hop transmitted by bootleg MTV videos and then transformed it into a manic music with an energy so intense that it verged on the political, it has since spread its influence throughout the lusophone world.
