Ticket Giveaway: Music Frees All Festival!
Afropop Worldwide is offering a free pass the Music Frees All Festival taking place July 19th-21st at venues across NYC! If you want to see three days of New York's funkiest afrobeat, groove, and latin bands, write us an email at info@afropop.org with "Music Frees All" in the subject, for your chance to win!
According to festival founder Miles Arntzen "Afrobeat music brings relief from everyday worries and fears...released through our bodies by dancing. This was the starting inspiration behind my band EMEFE, and it also pushed me to create the Music Frees All Festival in 2011."
Natually, this year's festival features three of NYC's hottest afrobeat bands: the original revivalists Antibalas (The Bell House 7/20), Arntzen's own EMEFE (Rockwood Music Hall 7/19) and Zongo Junction (Hostelling International NY 7/21). Other Afropop-noteworthy bands include: Chicha Libre, La Mecanica Popular (Bowery Electric 7/19) Xenia Rubinos, Super Hi-Fi and Karikatura (Hostelling International NY 7/21).
All proceeds of the festival go to benefit the Scotty Hard Trust which supports Brooklyn producer Scott Harding who was paralyzed in a car accident in 2008.
