Ticket Giveaway: Noura Mint Seymali at Pioneer Works, Feb. 6
We've been huge fans of Noura Mint Seymali since we saw her stellar performance at globalFest 2014. The incredible Mauritanian singer and ardine (a Mauritanian harp) player blends the quarter-tone tonality and five modes of traditional Mauritanian music with modern rock arrangements, aided by her highly talented lead guitarist (and husband) Jeich Ould Chighaly. We loved her album Tzenni, and we featured her in our 2014 Stocking Stuffers program. On Sat., Feb. 6, Noura Mint Seymali returns to New York, performing at Pioneer Works with 75 Dollar Bill, and we're offering a pair of free tickets courtesy of Olivier Conan and Barbes Agency. Email us at info@afropop.org, subject line "Noura Mint Seymali" for a chance to win your pair of free tickets! If you don't win, and you still want to go, we highly recommend this show, so get your tickets right here. Pioneer Works is located in Red Hook, Brooklyn 159 Pioneer St @ Van Brunt.
