For those who have seen the group perform before, PMG needs no introduction; but for those who don't yet know, for those who are about to have their minds blown, what can we say to prepare you? These four musicians that will take the stage that night are intensely versatile, swinging between funk, jazz, sacred Afro-cuban Orisha music, scorching timba, and perfect vocal harmonizing. This is seriously one of the hottest bands in the world. With just four bodies and voices, they sound bigger than some orchestra-sized Cuban timba bands. Pedrito Martinez, renowned as one of the best Afro-Cuban percussionists on the contemporary scene,  is also an extremely effective singer, as is Ariacne Trujillo, who lays down the twisted, classically-tinged piano montunos that form the harmonic basis from which the group takes flight. Venezuelan bassist Álvaro Benavides is a truly virtuosic badass, as is Pedrito's Peruvian protege Jhair Salas. Together, this group makes a massive, funky, rocking sound. Their upcoming CD has many highlights, and features musical luminaries including Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield, and Steve Gadd. Also, PMG will be touring throughout the country, and Europe!
