It has been a long ten years since the London-based Afro-Brazilian group Da Lata released their last album Serious, and thirteen since their debut album The Tin. Needless to say, we've been greatly anticipating their return and (finally!) the time has come!
Da Lata, meaning "from the tin" was formed in London in 1994 by Chris Franck and Patrick Forge. Their sound, a unique blend of Afrobeat and Brazilian music is versatile and exciting. Da Lata has collaborated with musicians such as Senegalese singer and guitarist Baaba Maal, jazz/soul musician Floetic Lara, and Brazilian artist Marcelo Jeneci.
De Lata began work on Fabiola in 2011 and will release the album this autumn. But if you're like us and are dying to hear a sneak peak of the album, you can listen to its first single, "Um Amor a Mais." This song has a dynamite groove, combining psychedelic Afrobeat, funk, disco, and a hint of dangerous seduction by São Paulo singer Luisa Maita all into one!
