Weedie Braimah Debuts "Weediefoli"

Weedie Braimah has to be just about the most innovative and ambitious djembe player on earth. This Ghanaian-American has played with the likes of Christian Scott, Bokante and Trombone Shorty, but his passion project is his band Hands of Time. The band’s debut album drops on Sept. 24, but we have an advance track, “Weediefoli.” It’s a cinematic dive into West African roots music, supercharged by Weedie’s orchestral djembe playing, and some 18 musicians, including Malian stars Madou Sidiki Diabaté on kora, Lassana Diabate on balafon, Cheikh Diallo on Fula flute, as well as Luke Quaranta of Toubab Krewe, and ace American guitarist Sam Dickey. The track is a tour de force, and a harbinger of a landmark album to come. Check out the guest and track list and preorder on Bandcamp, and listen across digital platforms now.
