Legendary singer-songwriter, feminist and activist Calypso Rose is back on a New York stage April 5, playing at (le) Poisson Rouge with the Canadian (but Trinidad-rooted) band Kobo Town. (I saw them in Montreal a few years back and it was a ton of fun.) That bill would already be a lot of bang for your calypso buck, but why spend anything when you can win tickets for free right here?
That’s right; our friends at the World Music Institute are teaming up with LPR and Afropop to offer a pair of tickets for free! All you have to do is sign up for our enewsletter (if you have not already) and email info@afropop.org with something like “Calypso Rose at (le) Poisson Rouge” in the subject line, and you’re entered to win. Keep an eye on your inbox in early April, we’ll alert the winner a few days before the show, and you’ll be on your way to a night of amazing Caribbean music on us.
We’ve followed Rose’s career for years, and feel lucky that she’s still as sharp as ever. It’s no doubt going to be a memorable night you won’t want to miss! Sign up and be there.
