Win Some Africa Now! Tickets

We’ve been on a concert-ticket-give-away tear lately, and we’re not stopping. In fact, this may be the biggest contest yet.

You want tickets to the Africa Now! concert March 3 at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem? To enter, sign up for our newsletter and send an email to info@afropop.org with “Africa Now Tickets!” in the subject line.

And here’s a bonus: You are also entering to win tickets to see Meklit play the Apollo Music Café the night before on March 2. If you wanna put a little note in there about which of these shows you would prefer to see, that’d probably be helpful, but as someone who has seen Africa Now! on the big stage before, and also seen Meklit in person in a smaller venue, I gotta say that these are both concerts worth checking out.

This is the sixth season of Africa Now!, and from top to bottom it’s a killer bill, representing the continent from the bottom to the top. South Africa’s Black Coffee will be bringing his Afropolitan house music; Tony Allen, who famously drummer for Fela Kuti, will be there playing with the techno pioneer Jeff Mills; Kinshasa’s Pierre Kwenders melds classic Congolese rumba with contemporary r&b and hip-hop production; and Afropop favorite, the totally peerless Ayo, will perform. DJ Henri is even going to be there spinning.

And the night before, Meklit’s alchemical mix of Ethio-jazz and singer/songwriter strum lights up Harlem’s “best kept secret.”

If you’re reading this, it’s too late: Afropop is almost definitely something you’ll enjoy. So sign up for that enewsletter and win some tickets already!
