The New Orleans “queen of bounce” rocks frenetic, high-energy sets with fervent call-and-response raps and “Azz Everywhere,” in the form of bent over twerkers both professional (her “legendary shake team”) and amateur. Best known for a high-profile collaboration with Beyonce (“Formation”), Big Freedia is partly responsible for taking Bounce from the underground to the mainstream. She’s joined by New Jersey’s own MikeQ, the Qween Beat label head and DJ at the forefront of NYC’s underground ballroom and vogue culture, and BATEKOO, a collective and party from Bahia, Brazil, that features rap, hip hop, Brazilian funk, R&B ,trap, Kuduro, Reggae, afrobeat, and ragga, centering young LGBTQ and black people. Hosted by British Nigerian comic and now Brooklynite Gina Yashere (The Daily Show, Netflix’s The Standups).
