Congo Fundraiser: Orchestre Moto, dj.henri, Sistars in Sound, Bo404, and Young Paris

Come join us for an event to raise money for Democratic Republic of Congo! There will be live music from Orchestre Moto, and DJ sets from dj.henri, Sistars in Sound, and Bo404, and a special appearance by Young Paris. The event will be hosted by Craig Mitchell, and all ticket money and donations will go directly to Focus Congo.

ORCHESTRE MOTO is a New York City-based band with strong roots in Kinshasa, dedicated to showcasing the Congolese sound. The band is led by guitarist and arranger Solo De Kanto, originally from Bandundu Province in the DRC, whose career includes tenures with legends such as Adolphe Dominguez, Wenge Tonya Tonya, Chancelier Desi Mbwese, and Planète Elegance. Orchestre Moto was co-founded by Julian Apter shortly after he began guitar lessons with De Kanto. Since forming, Orchestre Moto has performed at venues including the Sultan Room, the Shrine, Bunna Cafe’s Summer Music Series, Williamsburg Music Center, the Bee Sanctuary in Flatbush, the International African Arts Festival, and the Wakanda Festival. The group is currently working on its debut album.

DJ.HENRI spins African sounds at venues including the Apollo Theater, B.B. King’s, Symphony Space, Joe’s Pub, and elsewhere. He produced the NYC premieres of the legendary Zaiko Langa Langa in its original form, as well as Nkumu Katalay’s at Mercury Lounge, and also opened a show for master guitarist Diblo Dibala. He’s been booked to open for World Music legends like Salif Keita, Femi Kuti, Vieux Farka Toure, and many others. CRAIG MITCHELL has found his voice resonating across various cultural spheres for 15 years, as a voiceover artist, host, marketer, and community builder. With a talent for uniting people, a magnetic voice reaching millions daily, and an impassioned commitment to crafting memorable experiences, this native of North St. Louis, MO, has made significant strides in his endeavors in New York City. He is the driving force behind his independent creative and talent service, CM Effect LLC. Since its inception in 2013, the business has flourished on the principles of community and a genuine appreciation for stories that inspire individuals and drive larger movements. His clientele includes prominent names such as Nike, CBS Sports, Roc Nation, and many others.

YOUNG PARIS is the stage name of Milandou Badila, a Congolese-born, New York-raised singer, rapper, and producer who blends EDM and Afrobeat into a unique style of hip-hop. His music incorporates traditional African rhythms and contemporary electronic production, and he raps in a languid style. Born in Paris to Congolese immigrant parents, Badila grew up in an arts-rich environment with a world-renowned painter father and playwright mother.
