globalFEST, a leading platform for global music in North America, is set to celebrate its 22nd edition on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall in New York City. The festival will feature performances by ten diverse artists across three stages in a single evening, offering attendees a rich tapestry of traditional, contemporary, and genre-defying music from around the world.
The 2025 lineup includes:
- Akshara Music Ensemble: Presenting innovative interpretations of South Indian classical music.
- Bamba Wassoulou Groove: Delivering guitar-driven Malian classics and new Bamako grooves.
- Elida Almeida: Pairing her silky voice with traditional Cape Verdean rhythms.
- Ghazi & Boom.Diwan collaborating with Arturo O’Farrill: Fusing Kuwaiti pearl diving songs, Khaleeji, and Afro-Latin jazz.
- Kommuna Lux: Performing fiery Odesa folk, klezmer, and Balkan songs from Ukraine.
- Mireya Ramos and the Poor Choices: Weaving Mexican ranchera with American country tunes.
- Maruja Limón: Showcasing lively Catalan rumba from Spain's all-female powerhouse.
- Paul Beaubrun: Mixing Haitian funk and Rara.
- Rebolu: Honoring the rich music and dance of Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
- Zar Electrik: Blending mesmerizing Maghrebi and sub-Saharan loops with electro beats.
