Leif Totusek has spent a lifetime merging the swing and groove of African music styles (soukous, mbalax, mbira and more) with jazz. The Seattle-based maestro makes a rare NYC appearance at The Shrine on October 3. His longtime, ever-morphing band Freestyle Candela plays this time as a trio with Yoham Chiqui Ortiz on bass, and Ed Souarez of Conakry Guinea on drums/vocals.
It's an album release celebration of Freestyle Candela's newest album, Leif Totusek Bootleg.
