Othnell Mangoma Moyo, a.k.a. Mangoma (“the one with the drums”) is a multi-talented, internationally touring artist, researcher and preservation activist, deeply rooted in Zimbabwean culture. From September 12-15, he will be teaching and performing in New York City, a rare opportunity to encounter the highest level of traditional African music from a master multi-instrumentalist, story-teller and instrument builder.

Bulawayo Township Rhythms & Song: Join Mangoma to learn to sing and drum songs from the Bulawayo townships in southern Zimbabwe. Bring a drum, any percussion instrument, hands for clapping and your singing voice! Sliding scale $10-20
Performance: 8pm-9:30
Mangoma will perform a solo concert on ngoma (drums), hosho, multiple mbiras and ngororombe pan pipes, joined by members of Timbila and Maputi, with Banning Eyre & other special guests.
