Nigerian-born, Maryland-based Mannywellz is a meticulous beat crafter and rapper inspired by his native African sounds. His “music is … communal. It is about the confluence of secular and divine love” (Atwood). This landed him on the collaborative album with DACA musicians American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom. Conceived by jazz musician and educator John Daversa, the project was awarded three Grammy awards.
