Afropop at South by Southwest in Photos

The first Afropop Worldwide showcase at South by Southwest took place at the Palm Door on 6th Street, the heart of live music action at the 28-year-old festival. Afropop shared the venue with golbalFEST, with each presenter staging acts on separate stages at staggered times so that revelers could catch all the action.

The event was well attended by a diverse and enthusiastic audience that rocked right through the end of Adekunle Gold's closing set winding up at 2am. Bu then, six acts had taken the stage in six hours. You can hear the music and meet the artists by listening to the radio program/podcast "Afopopp at SXSW." Here you'll find a selection of Banning Eyre's photographs from a most memorable evening!
