Afropop Premiere: Rocky Dawuni, "Shine A Light"
Rocky Dawuni is a veteran Ghanaian reggae singer and roots rocker, who now lives in Los Angeles. Rocky has used his international stardom to campaign for many humanitarian causes, and he now serves as a United Nations Foundation Ambassador for the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. (Clean cookstoves are really important, and definitely something to check out if you haven't heard of the problem.) His new album, Branches of the Same Tree is available now from Cumbancha Records. Rocky's greatest influences are Bob Marley and Fela Kuti, but his new album's opening track, "Shine a Light" has a joyful gospel feel to it. Enjoy!
