BRIC Celebrates start of Fall season and the opening of BRIC House
Championing the creativity of Brooklyn for 35 years by helping Brooklyn artists and media makers create new works, and enhance access to the arts for residents, BRIC has much to be proud of as it kicks off its fall season. Not only does it have an excellent line-up of live music, performing arts, contemporary art exhibitions, and community media programs; the organization will inaugurate its expanded 40,000sq community arts space: BRIC House. Poised to open on October 3rd, this new 40,000sq community arts facility boasts a performance space, artist studio, 3000 square foot gallery, a state of the art public access television center, indoor open public space and of course, a coffee shop. BRIC is celebrating the new season and BRIC House opening with three days of free community programming, from the 3rd-5th.  Brooklynites and visitors from all around will be excited to enjoy a block party, contemporary art exhibit, and a multitude of performances.  Among the performers marking the celebration are reggae legend Burning Spear, the pan Caribbean collective, Natural Expression Rhythm Band, and a host of others. Be sure to get involved in the fun this week, check out the facilities and BRIC’s many programs and classes which are open to the public.  Afropop is bursting with anticipation for all the excellent programming and the all-around great stuff that BRICs has going on.  We hope you are too!
