Chronixx plays SOB's and we have TICKETS
Well- it finally happened. After a delay of several months due to work permit issues, the dancehall star Chronixx and his Zinc Fence Band are finally making it to NYC, playing a show on September 17th at SOB's. And? We just happen to have tickets. Which we JUST SO HAPPEN to be giving away. And let's be real here for a second- this show? It's a fairly big deal. While artists like Kabaka Pyramid and Protoje have gained an increasing following both at home in Jamaica and (perhaps even more so) with the international community of reggae fans, Chronixx is by far the largest performer to have emerged from the conscious "revival" scene that has pushed back against the kind of slackness epitomized by ruling dancehall artists like the incarcerated superstar Vybz Kartel.  Hits like "Odd Ras" or "Smile Jamaica" have managed to fuse old-school style riddims with enough digital swagger to get real play (maybe not much radio play, but certainly heavy mixtape inclusion). Where the 20 year old singer goes from this strong start? At this point, it's anyone's guess. But definitely be sure that it will be a NIGHT. Want to win a pair of free tickets to the show on Sept 17th? Tweet @afropopww with the name of your favorite Chronixx track.
