GlobalFest Hangout: "Hassan Hajjaj: My Rock Stars" at the Newark Museum
It can be difficult for those of us encased in the (increasingly hot and smelly) bubble that is NYC to make our way out, but globalFEST's upcoming hangout at the Newark Museum is pretty tempting. On display is Moroccan-born, now U.K.-based artist Hassan Hajjaj's new exhibition, "My Rock Stars," a video and photography installation on various jazz, hip-hop and Gnawa musicians who have inspired Hajjaj personally. The exhibit itself looks well worth a visit, but if you go as part of the globalFEST group, you get free admission and a guided tour from the show's curator, Dr. Christa Clarke. There will also be a performance by New York Gnawa band InnoVe Gnawa. Check the globalFEST blog for more information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwtGNq6Evv8
