One Africa Music Fest (Afrobeat and Afropop) Comes to Houston This Saturday
If you're in Houston, the Toyota Center is the place to be this Saturday, Oct. 22. Nigerian super-promoter Paul Okoye's Upfront & Personal presents the Houston edition of the One Africa Music Fest, which rocked Brooklyn in July. We were in attendance at the groundbreaking One Africa Fest at the Barclays Center, and covered the event here. The show featured Nigerian pop giants Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Flavour, plus Stonebwoy and Efya from Ghana, and many others, including Fela’s youngest son Seun Kuti. The Houston show will be hosted by Banky W, and feature live performances from a mostly different lineup of Nigerian Afrobeats superstars: 2Face, P-Square, Dbanj, Olamide, Flavour, Kcee, Tekno and Harrysongs. The fest is living up to its name and expanding from a West African centric-lineup to include Congolese rumba star Fally Ipupa, South African duo Mafikizolo, Tanzania's Vanessa Mdee, Angolan kuduru star Cabo Snoop, and many more.
