One Africa Music Festival Lineup Update
The One Africa Music Festival has added several new acts to its already star-studded lineup. The event, slated for July 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, boasts some of the most widely recognized Afrobeats musicians, including Wizkid and Davido, who have worked with North American rap icons Drake and Meek Mill, respectively. The newest additions to the lineup include Trinidadian soca star Machel Montano, and Jidenna, a Grammy-nominated Nigerian-American whose recent emergence in the American pop scene has been accelerated by collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae. Other recently added performers include Wale, whose rap career has drawn great influence from the Washington, DC-based go-go genre, and Timaya, a Nigeria-based dancehall musician.
