Paris DJs Soundsystem - West Indies Vintage Funk Vol.2

This mix of vintage funk from the West Indies from Paris DJs Soundsystem comes just in time for the summer heat wave hitting NYC! We feel right at home with these funky Caribbean tunes.  Following-up on Loik's first volume - published more than 7 years ago, this mix draws on recent re-issues, compilations and rare albums and singles from the 70s from from Colombia, Panama, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and smaller islands like Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Martinique, Guadaloupe and the Bahamas. Listen to the reverberations of 1970s African-American funk interpreted through local rhythms like konpa, son and calypso. Anthems of revolution, political independence and racial equality- such as Biosis Now's "Independent Bahamas" and Duke from Trinidad's "Freedom In Africa"- mix with light-heated dance tunes like the Panamanian calypsonians De Briano & The Alonso Wilson Quinteto's "Concolon (Calypso Windsor)" Joe Trouillot with "Le Coq Chante," or Marius Cultier from Matinique with the super-funky "Eso Guede." Both Vol. 1 and 2 are available for download from Paris DJs Soundsystem! Enjoy!
